I’ve spent almost 20 years in the Canadian mortgage industry, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

Doing what you’ve always been told to do with your money doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing what’s best for you.

Most Canadians grow up with a pretty standard financial playbook: buy a house, get a mortgage, pay it down as quickly as possible, contribute to your RRSP when you can, and hopefully, somewhere down the road, you’ve built enough wealth to have some freedom.

That question is a huge part of why I became a Smith Manoeuvre Certified Professional™.
